Amanda Tapping Biography
Amanda Tapping (born 28 August 1965) is an English-born Canadian actor and director. Her most well-known part is as Samantha Carter on the Canadian-American military sci-fi television show Stargate SG-1. She also was the main character of the television series science-fiction-fantasy Sanctuary. She attended North Toronto Collegiate Institute, where she excelled in Environmental Science and Drama. When she graduated in 1984, Tapping decided to concentrate her studies on drama and went to the University of Windsor School of Dramatic Arts. She also performed in various stage productions. She was a part of several TV commercials as well as played various roles in films and television shows including The Outer Limits and The X-Files. She also founded a comedy troupe known as the "Random Acts", with collaborators Katherine Jackson and Anne Marie Kerr and was a part of Toronto in the 1990s.
