Melanie Jayne Lynskey
Melanie Jayne Lynskey, born on the 16th
of May, 1977 is a New Zealand actress. She is known for her charming,
soft-spoken but tough characters, and works predominantly in films that are
independent. Her awards include one of them: a New Zealand Film Award. A
Hollywood Film Award. Sundance Special Jury Award. Gotham Award. Golden Nymph
Award. Critics' Choice Award. Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. Her film
debut was the teenage murderer in Peter Jackson’s Heavenly Creatures (1994).
After moving to the United States in 1994, Lynskey began a successful career
acting in supporting roles in a range of large-budget and smaller-scale
productions, including Ever After (1998) and Detroit Rock City and But I'm a
Cherleader (both 1999), Coyote Ugly (2000), Abandon and Sweet Home Alabama
(1902), Shattered Glass (2003) and Flags of Our Fathers (2006). Lynskey's role
as the lead in I Must Go I Must Go (2012) was praised by critics and a
nomination for The Gotham Award for Breakthrough Performer. It was a turning
point in her professional career. The subsequent lead roles she played in were
Happy Christmas and We'll Never Have Paris (all 2014), The Intervention (all
2016), Rainbow Time, Little Boxes I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore
(both 2017), Lady of the Manor (2021), Sadie (2018) Sadie (2018) and Lady of
the Manor (both 2018) established her position as an influential person within
the American independent film community. Outside of film, Lynskey achieved fame
with her portrayal of Rose on the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men (2003-2015).
From 2015 until the year 2016, she played Michelle Pierson on the HBO series
Togetherness, for which she received a nomination for the 2015 Critics' Choice
Television Award for the Best Supporting Actress. She was the voice of Beatrice
on Cartoon Network's Over the Garden Wall (2014) and Megan for Disney XD's
Future-Worm! (2016-2018). She also was the lead in Molly Strand, the first
season of Hulu's Castle Rock (2018). Rosemary Thomson starred in Mrs. America
on FX (2020).
