Julia Karin Ormond Bio
Julia Karin Ormond, a British actress, has appeared in films, television, and stage. Ormond was born in Epsom, Surrey, England, as the daughter of Josephine the laboratory technician as well as John Ormond, a successful computer software developer who became millionaire by the age of thirty. Ormond's father separated from his family and wife at the time that Julia was still young. She went to Guildford High School and Cranleigh School (a private school), and then studied acting in London at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art where she was graduated in 1988. Ormond's credits on stage include The Rehearsal, Wuthering Heights, The Crucible, Christopher Hampton’s Faith, Hope and Charity, which won her the Drama Critics of London Award for Best Newcomer as well as David Hare's My Zinc Bed, which has earned her an Laurence Olivier Award nomination. Her film credits include Jerry Zucker's First Knight, Captives with Tim Roth, Legends of the Fall with Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins and Aidan Quinn, Sydney Pollack's Sabrina with Harrison Ford, "Resistance" and Smilla's Sense of Snow. Her role was also significant in The Baby of Macon, a controversial Peter Greenaway movie with Ralph Fiennes. She has appeared in HBO's Stalin and Iron-Jawed Angels, Traffik and Varian's War and Animal Farm. She also owns an independent production company, Indican Productions, based in New York City. Ormond was also a guest actor on the 2008-09 season, CSI:NY.
